Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to support ecological surveys, data collection, and reporting across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, or Virginia. The role is part of the Philadelphia-area office with a hybrid work model and start timing in Spring/Summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biology, or related field.
• Proficiency with standard office software.
• OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification (preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients and regulators.
• Willingness to travel locally and overnight as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead ecologist/wetland scientist with stream, wetland, wildlife habitat assessments and ecological surveys.
• Process field data and help develop ecological assessment reports using data collection tools.
• Coordinate with agencies on survey protocols and reporting standards.
• Review desktop information to complete environmental impact assessments.
• Learn field survey equipment, data forms, and reporting tools.
• Assist in preparing permit applications and other technical information.
• Collect and analyze data under supervision and use data management software.
• Travel locally as required by projects.
