Job summary

The City of Arlington Finance Department is seeking an Application Specialist I to provide foundational support for enterprise applications, including SaaS and custom systems. You will perform routine configuration, basic admin tasks, and user assistance to ensure reliable operation.

2–3 years of experience in software, development, or related fields.

Responsibilities

Act as an application administrator for assigned enterprise applications, performing support, configuration, maintenance, and basic system administration following established procedures.
Troubleshoot routine application issues, manage service requests and tickets, document resolutions, and escalate complex problems as needed.
Monitor application performance and system health; identify issues and assist in corrective actions to maintain reliability.
Assist in configuring and maintaining application features using established tools and standards; perform basic configuration and limited coding tasks under guidance.
Assist in supporting system integrations and data interfaces, including basic data validation and troubleshooting.
Develop and maintain basic reports and dashboards; perform data imports/exports and validate data accuracy.
Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and users to support application functionality and resolve issues.
Provide user support and guidance on application functionality and established best practices.
Assist business units in gathering and documenting requirements and understanding business processes.
Support SDLC activities such as testing, documentation, and validation of system changes under direction.
Assist with evaluation, testing, and deployment of application enhancements, patches, and upgrades following established procedures.
Create and maintain system documentation, including configurations, process flows, and user guides.
Assist in developing and delivering user training and instructional materials.
Coordinate with vendors and external support providers to resolve issues and support system functionality.
Identify opportunities for improvement and assist in implementing enhancements to increase usability and performance.
