Job summary

Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is hiring an Eligibility Operations Worker in Fairbury, NE. You will be an initial contact for applicants, gather information, explain programs, and determine eligibility while learning DHHS policies and software.

Qualifications

• 24 semester hours of post high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education or closely related field OR experience in customer service or eligibility.
• Experience using computers and technology to complete daily work, including navigating multiple systems.
• Experience in human services, case management, or determining eligibility for financial assistance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as initial point of contact for customers by phone or in person.
• Answer questions about DHHS programs, services and eligibility requirements.
• Complete phone applications and gather information to evaluate customer needs.
• Enter and maintain accurate customer information in DHHS systems.
• Explain program benefits and next steps in the eligibility process.
• Provide professional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
