Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer in Troy, NY to contribute to the design and development of utility, industrial, and commercial projects. You will assist with substation components, wiring diagrams, grounding, and protection systems, while producing precise documentation and ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role emphasizes entry-level engineering tasks, collaboration with teams, and ongoing training in accordance with regulations and client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 0 to 1 year of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
• General understanding of electrical engineering as applied to design of large capital projects.
• Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, assist with data collection and analysis for substation components and equipment specifications.
• Assist with design work including single line and three-line diagrams, substation layout, grounding, and bus arrangement.
• Perform basic professional electrical engineering tasks related to equipment sizing, cabling, and conduit design.
• Help verify site characteristics and provide basic technical assistance on engineering, design, testing, and maintenance procedures.
• Develop electrical calculations for loads, feeder sizing, voltage drop, and power distribution under supervision.
• Generate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field notes.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and site procedures, including engineering studies and surveys.
• Complete assigned training tasks and participate in ongoing learning.
• Demonstrate responsible decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
