Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer at entry level for Springfield, MA, starting Summer 2027. This role supports building electrical systems for food processing facilities, including lighting, power distribution, and low-voltage networks.

You will collaborate with design teams to produce calculations, drawings, and bid-ready documents. Ideal candidates have a BS in Electrical Engineering and 0-3 years of related internship or work experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 0–3 years of work experience or schooling in electrical systems for building power.
• 0–3 years of work experience or schooling in lighting, fire alarm systems, and low voltage systems for building spaces, including lighting calculations, and coordinating fixture placement with trades.
• 0–3 years of work experience or schooling in electrical bid documents and procuring electrical materials and equipment.
• 0–3 years of work experience or schooling in AutoCAD, Revit or other related design programs.
• FE or PE tracked desirable.
• Travel to customer project sites is estimated at 25%.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for building power distribution (208V, 480V, and medium voltage) for industrial facilities.
• Document calculations such as short circuit, selective coordination, arc flash, generator sizing, and load calculations.
• Manage time and meet commitments.
• Understand Ohm's Law, AC/DC, and power system theory.
• Design lighting for food processing spaces and coordinate fixture placement with trades.
• Design fire alarm systems per NFPA 72, 101, and local codes.
• Produce bid documents including drawings, one-lines, riser diagrams, schedules, and specs.
• Procure long lead light fixtures and power distribution equipment.
• Assist in managing electrical bid processes and field startup.
