Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a Building Electrical Group intern in Massachusetts to assist with designing building electrical systems for food and beverage facilities. You’ll work on power distribution, lighting, and low voltage systems while documenting calculations and supporting bid packages.

You will gain hands-on exposure to NEC code, coordination with trades, and software like AutoCAD and Revit. Travel to project sites (~25%) is possible.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Access).
• Familiarity with three phase power, the NEC, wireless radio systems, fire and security systems, Fiber or LAN cabling is a plus.
• Familiarity with designing lighting, fire alarm systems, and low voltage systems for building spaces, including lighting calculations.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for building power distribution (208v, 480v, medium voltage).
• Document calculations (short circuit, coordination, voltage drop, load, conductor sizing).
• Produce bid documents (layout drawings, one-lines, schedules, specs).
• CAD tasks: add 2D devices to Xrefs and coordinate with trades.
• Assist with bid processes, site observations, and startup support.
