Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an Electrical Assembler for a contract-to-hire role in Machesney Park, IL. You will assemble electrical and mechanical components using hand and power tools, read blueprints, and troubleshoot equipment on a fast-paced production floor.

This onsite position offers first and third shift options, competitive pay of $20.00-$23.00 per hour, and benefits from day one, including health, dental, and vision coverage through a major provider.

Qualifications

Electrical Assembler
Job Description

This role focuses on assembling electrical and mechanical components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high quality and on-time production. You will use blueprints, hand and power tools, and measuring devices to complete electrical and mechanical assembly tasks, including wiring, panel work, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment in accordance with established procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble electrical and mechanical components and systems using hand and power tools, measuring devices, and standard assembly equipment.
  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and written work instructions to complete electrical and mechanical assemblies accurately.
  • Perform electrical wiring and panel wiring, including crimping, routing, and securing wires according to specifications and schematics.
  • Carry out mechanical assembly tasks, including machine assembly, using tape measures (SAE and metric), hand tools, and power tools.
  • Complete troubleshooting steps for mechanical equipment in line with inspection procedure guidelines to identify and resolve issues.
  • Operate power and hand tools safely and correctly, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain high quality standards and ensure on-time completion of work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Work in all required areas of the production floor as needed to support overall production goals.
  • Follow established processes and procedures to ensure consistent, reliable, and safe assembly work.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address production challenges and support continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 6 months of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to pass an electrical assessment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools for assembly work.
  • Ability to operate measuring devices, including tape measures in SAE and metric units.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and panel wiring.
  • Capability to perform mechanical assembly and machine assembly tasks.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting steps for mechanical equipment following inspection procedures.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Electrical experience is a plus, including prior work with electrical wiring or panel wiring.
  • Recent completion of an electrical certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience with crimping and electrical assembly work.
  • Familiarity with using a variety of hand and power tools in a production setting.
  • Ability to work across different areas of the production floor as needed.
  • Willingness to work overtime as scheduled, including every other weekend shift as applicable.

Work Environment

This position is based in a clean manufacturing facility where safety is a top priority and all required tools are provided. The environment can be hot in the summer, but large doors remain open to improve airflow. Team members must be available to train on first shift for a minimum of two weeks, Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with every other Saturday as needed. Ongoing schedules include first shift (Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., with every other Saturday) and third shift (Sunday–Thursday, 6:00 p.m.–4:30 a.m., with every other Friday available for overtime). The role requires working on the production floor around machinery and assembly stations, following all safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
