Job summary

U.S. Xpress, Inc. in Springfield, OH, is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform basic preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors. You will inspect brakes, tires, fluids, and related components to keep our fleet safe and efficient.

We welcome candidates with a high school diploma, a diesel technology diploma, and at least 1 year of mechanical experience. DOT and brake certifications are preferred; you must provide your own tools. Competitive pay and benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Diesel technology diploma preferred from accredited program.
• Minimum 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
• Technical diploma may substitute for 1 year of experience.
• Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
• Computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic preventative maintenance on tractors per PM guidelines.
• Inspect brakes, tires, wiring and related components.
• Check fluids and temperatures; top up as needed.
• Change tires and grease mechanical parts as required.
• Maintain high productivity and complete tasks within SRT times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
