Job summary

U.S. Xpress, Inc. seeks a diesel maintenance technician to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on tractors at the CHICAGO USX TERMINAL. The role requires tools, a valid driver's license, and the ability to read and write. You will work Monday–Friday, 4pm–12:30am, with a pay range of $23.03–$28.15 per hour.

This position emphasizes safety, efficiency, and adherence to PM guidelines while supporting a high-productivity shop environment that values teamwork and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma in Diesel Technology preferred.
• Experience in the transportation industry preferred; computer skills helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors.
• Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring etc.
• Check vehicle fluids (transmission oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze).
• Change vehicle tires and grease mechanical parts.
• Maintain a high productivity level and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
