Job summary

G&W Electric is hiring a Crater I to prepare and assemble wooden containers, pack large and heavy products for shipment, and ensure proper bracing and protection during transit.

You will construct crates, select packing materials, verify orders against bills of material, and document actions. The role requires basic carpentry skills, tool use, and ability to read drawings and instructions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0–1 year manufacturing experience or basic carpentry skills preferred.
• Able to safely use small hand and power tools.
• Able to read instructions and understand verbal instructions in English.
• Able to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble wooden containers and pack products for shipment.
• Construct crates and skids for shipments.
• Inspect orders against bills of material.
• Move and position crates using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or hoists.
• Record date and quantity, method of shipment and verifies by signing initials.
• Mark order number on crates or packages with sales order number.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of basic crating tasks as needed.
• Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation.
• Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
