Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking a Crater I to prepare and assemble wooden crates and packing for shipment, selecting materials and bracing methods to prevent shifting. You will follow drawings and BOMs to ensure correct components, inspect completed crates, and document results.

In a safety‑driven manufacturing environment, you’ll train others in basic crating tasks, maintain a clean workspace, and record actions using production forms as part of shipping processes in Illinois.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; combination with work experience allowed.
• 0–1 year manufacturing or carpentry experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble wooden containers and packing for shipment.
• Construct non-standard boxes, crates or skids for shipments.
• Check orders against bills of material; report shortages or errors.
• Assemble orders, weigh, move, and direct movement to the designated floor location.
• Record date and quantity; document method of shipment and verify by initials.
• Maintain safe, clean working environment and follow procedures.
• Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed.
• Train others in basic crating tasks when needed.
• Inspect all work prior to passing to the next operation.
• Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
