Job summary

G&W Electric in Romeoville, IL is seeking a Crater I to prepare and assemble wooden containers, crates, boxes and skids for shipments, and to select packing materials and bracing to prevent movement. You will read drawings and Bills of Material and ensure proper components are included in each order.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, 0–1 year of manufacturing experience or basic carpentry skills, and the ability to use hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or combination of work experience and skill development.
• 0–1 year experience in a manufacturing environment or basic carpentry skills.
• Able to safely use small hand and power tools.
• Able to read instructions and understand verbal instructions in English.
• Ideally able to read drawings and Bills of Material.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble wooden containers, crates, and skids for shipments.
• Select materials for packing and protection and brace to prevent shifting.
• Inspect orders against bills of material and report shortages.
• Record shipment data and mark crates with order numbers.
• Maintain safe, clean work environment and train others as needed.
