Job summary

G&W Electric Co. is seeking a Crater I to prepare and assemble wooden containers and pack large, heavy, and fragile equipment for shipment. You will construct crates, select materials, verify orders against Bills of Materials, and record shipping details.

The role requires basic carpentry skills, safe tool handling, and ability to read English instructions. You will work in a manufacturing facility with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0–1 year manufacturing or basic carpentry experience preferred.
• Able to safely use hand and power tools and read basic instructions.
• Able to read drawings and Bills of Materials.

Responsibilities

• Construct boxes, crates, or skids for shipments.
• Select packing materials and bracing methods.
• Check orders against bills of materials for completeness.
• Assemble orders and move materials using hand trucks or pallet jacks.
• Record shipments and quantities; sign off on actions.
• Maintain safe, clean work environment and conserve resources.
• Train others in basic crating tasks as needed.
• Inspect work before passing to next operation.
