Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant is hiring an Entry Level Cook for multiple dining venues. This FT role offers $15/hr with schedules that may vary and weekends/holidays required.

You will learn under the Sous Chef, support daily kitchen operations, and help maintain quality, safety, and efficiency across high-volume outlets. Responsibilities include ingredient prep, cooking with varied methods, proper seasoning and plating, following recipes, and ensuring food safety.

Qualifications

• Basic culinary knowledge or interest in learning the craft.
• Ability to read, write, and follow kitchen procedures.
• English proficiency is required to communicate and operate in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients (wash, chop, slice, peel, etc.).
• Cook food using grill, fry, bake, steam, braise, boil methods.
• Season, garnish, and plate dishes to ensure quality and presentation.
• Follow standardized recipes and preparation methods.
• Taste food prior to service to ensure quality.
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation.
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
• Assist with kitchen setup, service, and cleanup.
• Minimize waste through proper portioning and production levels.
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Requirements

• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain)
• 6 months of culinary experience OR equivalent culinary education/experience
