Job summary

Verus is seeking an Associate Automation/Controls Engineer to join our team in Concord, CA. You will contribute to SCADA, HMI, and PLC development under senior mentors and collaborate with project managers.

The ideal candidate has 0–2 years of experience, a bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, and a strong interest in industrial control systems. Willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning and support is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics) or Computer Science from an accredited university.
0–2 years of experience; internships, senior design projects, or technical co-ops valued.
Exposure to PLCs and HMI/SCADA programming tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

Support the creation of SCADA, HMI, and PLC programs from defined control strategies.
Assist in designing control panels and selecting industrial components.
Help develop system specifications, sequences of operations, and project documentation.
Participate in system commissioning and provide on-site field support.
Collaborate with Project Managers and discipline leads to keep programming on track.
Engage in design reviews and communicate progress with clients.
Pursue mentorship and training to master new platforms and standards.
