Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Virginia seeks an entry-level Construction Engineer to support Responsible Charge Engineers in managing and inspecting Federal, State and local projects across Virginia. You will apply engineering principles to design, procure, deliver and close-out construction tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities include construction management, contract administration, change evaluation, office engineering, materials testing, and project controls such as CPM

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering or civil engineering technology from an ABET accredited program.
• Prior experience performing construction engineering, inspection and testing preferred; industry certifications preferred (VDOT, ACI, DEQ).
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and work cooperatively with others.
• Must be willing to work nights and overtime as project needs require.
• Must lift up to 40 lbs and have a valid driver’s license.
• Must commute to Fairfax and Fredericksburg locations in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Assist Responsible Charge Engineers in construction management and inspection of projects.
• Participate in contract management, administration and change evaluation/negotiation.
• Support office engineering, project records and materials certification.
• Inspect project elements and perform materials testing as needed.
• Contribute to project controls including CPM scheduling, budgeting and risk management.
• Support project close-out including payments and documentation.
• Work under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
