The City of Hayward seeks a Code Enforcement Inspector I to perform inspections for housing, zoning, building, and related codes. You will examine properties, explain regulations to owners, and issue notices as needed.

This role supports neighborhood quality and public safety, with opportunities for growth into Inspector II. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, a driver’s license, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Experience not required for Code Enforcement Inspector I (entry level).
• Certification CACEO or ICC Housing/Property Maintenance desirable
• Possession of a valid driver's license may be required

Responsabilités

• Perform inspections to ensure City ordinances and codes are followed.
• Inspect residential rental units, motels and hotels for code compliance.
• Prepare letters and reports related to violations and citations.
• Represent the City in hearings and testify as needed.
• Coordinate with other divisions and agencies on enforcement actions.
