Job summary

The City of Hayward is seeking a Senior Code Enforcement Inspector to lead and supervise a team responsible for enforcing municipal, building, zoning, and health codes. You will conduct advanced inspections, review cases with staff, and ensure compliance with City and State regulations.

As a senior member of the Code Enforcement Division, you will coordinate program activities, interact with the public, and provide training to staff while upholding safety standards and city policies.

Qualifications

• Lead direction and training of staff in code enforcement.
• Interpretation of multiple codes and ordinances for enforcement.
• Ability to research ownership, zoning, and parcel history.

Responsibilities

• Directs and trains assigned employees in code enforcement methods and procedures.
• Verifies work for accuracy and safety.
• Inspects properties for violations and oversees complex inspections.
• Coordinates joint enforcement with other divisions and outside agencies.
• Responds to public inquiries and resolves complaints.
• Prepares reports and testifies in hearings as required.
• Maintains relationships with homeowners, businesses and community groups.
