Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Roanoke team. This role is primarily field-based, involving observation, sampling, and data collection under direct supervision to support project execution and testing activities.

No prior experience is required; paid training is provided and certification fees will be paid. As you gain experience, you’ll develop foundational technical skills and receive opportunities for further training and professional

Qualifications

  • No prior field testing experience required; paid training provided.
  • Must be able to read maps, follow directions, and interpret plans as one develops.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment up to ~85 lbs and operate a motor vehicle safely.

Responsibilities

  • Performs field observation, testing, and sampling of soil, aggregates, and concrete under supervision.
  • Assists with construction materials testing activities on project sites.
  • Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
  • Reports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors.
  • Assists with preparation and submission of daily field reports.
  • Supports basic calculations and data entry related to testing results.
  • Assists in organizing and maintaining field equipment.
  • Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
  • Participates in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
  • Performs other field and project support duties as assigned.
