Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a motivated Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician in Chesapeake. No prior experience is needed as you will learn under senior staff and gain hands-on exposure to soils, aggregates, and concrete testing on real project sites.

We offer training, safety instruction, and pathways to professional certifications. You will work under trained professionals, growing your skills while contributing to field observations, sampling, and reporting duties.

Qualifications

  • No experience required; paid training provided.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to lift 85 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Willing to develop understanding of CMT principles and ASTM standards.
  • OSHA 10 certification may be required.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, test, and sample soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction sites; perform tasks under supervision.
  • Conduct routine field and laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete per industry standards.
  • Collect data and perform calculations; assist with drafting and administrative duties as needed.
  • Communicate site conditions and testing needs to supervisors; coordinate with contractors and project managers.
