Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician for the Baltimore, MD team. No prior experience is required as you will be guided by experienced professionals to learn field testing of soils, aggregates, and concrete.

You will perform observations and tests, collect data, and communicate with contractors and project managers. The role includes training in ECS methodology and opportunities for certification and career growth.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and insurance.
• Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and ASTM laboratory standards.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Field activities: Observe, test, and sample materials (soils, aggregates, concrete) on project sites under supervision.
• Perform routine field and laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete per industry standards.
• Collect data and perform calculations, drafting, and administrative tasks as requested.
• Communicate site conditions and testing needs to supervisors; attend project meetings as needed.
• Receive training in ECS methodology and document findings with engineering precision.
