Job summary

Timmons Group in Richmond, VA is seeking a Civil Project Engineer I to join the Transportation Design group. You will design horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for roadway widening, develop 3D models using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley OpenRoads, and create visuals for client presentations while ensuring project accuracy and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering; transportation/traffic coursework preferred.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for roadway widening and improvement projects.
• Develop 3D models and plans using AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Create visualizations for client and public presentations using 3D software.
• Prepare detailed plan sheets and complete project submission packages.
• Perform roadway and drainage calculations using engineering software and reference materials.
• Assist in preparing engineering and construction cost estimates.
• Research and utilize open-source GIS data for project planning.
• Conduct field observations and data collection to support design discussions.
• Stay current with emerging technologies to enhance team capabilities.
• Participate in client and contractor meetings to support project delivery.

Education

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related field

Master's degree in civil engineering (preferred)
