Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III for their Transportation Design Group. Located in Charlottesville, VA, the candidate will be responsible for designing project portions, conducting field assessments, and communicating with clients and internal teams. The ideal applicant will have a degree in civil engineering and at least two years of roadway design experience. Knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads Designer and AutoDesk Civil 3D is critical. This is a full-time position offering opportunities for growth in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

• At least two years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design.
• EIT preferred.
• VDOT experience preferred.

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III Roadway Design- Transportation candidate **** to join **** our Transportation Design Group located **** in our Charlottesville, VA office location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and AutoDesk Civil 3D technology.
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems.
• Prepare specifications materials through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project.
• Work to complete design details and plan sets.
• Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work or inspection.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
• Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff.
• Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.

Skills/Requirements

• A bachelors or master's degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• Ideal candidates would have at least two years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design
• Bentley OpenRoads Designer proficiency is essential
• AutoDesk Civil 3D proficiency is a plus
• VDOT experience preferred
• EIT preferred
