Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Entry-Level Engineer to join our Michigan practice, ideally in the Grand Rapids and/or Lansing areas. You will work with project teams on civil, geotechnical, and mining projects, performing field work, data evaluation, and report preparation.

We value hands-on learning, a strong work ethic, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines in a hybrid work environment, with opportunities to travel within Michigan and nationwide as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering or equivalency.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical skill and a positive attitude.
• Willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Hybrid work environment experience preferred.
• Willing to travel within Michigan and nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Work with project teams on civil, geotechnical, geological, or mining projects involving CAD design, field work, data evaluation, analysis and report prep.
• Assist in planning geotechnical investigations and analyses.
• Assist in preparing reports, plans, and specifications.
• Observe and log soil borings/rock cores; conduct field site mapping.
• Observe construction and perform materials testing as needed; assist in field inspections.
• Assist in analyses and design calculations.
