Job summary

New Leaf Energy is seeking a Civil Engineer I to join our team and support senior engineers, project developers, project managers, and consultants in reviewing, designing, and permitting community and utility-scale renewable energy projects.

The role includes site due diligence, bylaws research, site civil and stormwater design, and permit applications for entitlement of solar, wind, or energy storage projects.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program or equivalent.
• EIT certificate or on-track to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• 1-3 years of experience; recent engineering graduates with internship or COOP experience are encouraged to apply.
• Must have some experience and enjoy working with AutoCAD; Civil 3D is desired but not required.
• College coursework in hydrological modeling; HYDROCAD experience preferred.
• Experience with or knowledge of field surveying concepts desired.
• High energy, resourceful, and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects. Able to work in ad-hoc teams and take direction.
• Able to occasionally visit project sites for pre-development evaluations.
• Able to occasionally drive to evening meetings of project-approving authorities
• Solid written, oral communication, and analytical skills.
• Passionate about renewable sources of energy.

Responsibilities

• Site due diligence, permitting path research, and drafting of civil consultation memos.
• Prepare site plans for submission to AHJs.
• Analyze and prepare Stormwater Management Reports in HYDROCAD.
• Assist in the development of standard details, notes, and specs, and reviewing design drawings.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
