Job summary

S&M E in Charlotte, NC is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Civil/Energy team. You will gain hands-on experience and mentorship while contributing to infrastructure projects across energy, industrial, and government sectors.

You’ll participate in conceptual design, engineering analysis, and cost estimation, learning from Professional Engineers and collaborating with clients and teams to deliver practical, innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 0-2 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design projects.
• Aspiration to take the Professional Engineer (P.E.) exam within 4-5 years.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and stormwater/utility modeling software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn from Experienced Mentors - Work with Professional Engineers for growth.
• Contribute to Meaningful Projects - Support design of infrastructure like utility systems, landfills, dams, and stream restoration.
• Develop Technical Skills - Create drawings, perform calculations, assist with specs, reports, and cost estimates.
• Support Civil Site Design - Assist with grading plans, stormwater management, and permitting.
• Collaborate with Clients and Teams - Engage with clients and teammates to deliver innovative solutions.
