Job summary

Hunt Valley Environmental, LLC (HVE) is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to support sustainable site development projects in the Western Pennsylvania region. You will assist with site visits, data collection, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance under the guidance of senior staff.

Responsibilities include preparing design plans, permit applications, and reports, while ensuring environmental quality standards and contributing innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) registration or ability to obtain within one year.
• 0-2 years' experience; consulting experience is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in MicroStation or AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, or other engineering software is beneficial.
• Physically able to perform fieldwork and travel; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to plan, design, and oversee sustainable site development, grading, and construction projects.
• Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections to collect and compile data on environmental resources.
• Prepare clear, concise reports and technical documentation that support environmental permitting, compliance, and project execution.
• Develop design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for infrastructure improvements, with a focus on sustainable and innovative solutions.
• Review subdivision, land development, grading, and zoning plans, including stormwater management and erosion control plans.
• Prepare and submit federal, state, and local permit applications (NPDES and waterway permits).
• Provide construction observation and field engineering services to verify adherence to standards.
• Assist with grant and funding applications to support environmentally responsible initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned by the Engineer Manager

Overview:

We are seeking an entry level Civil Engineer who will support the planning, design, and permitting of sustainable site development projects by assisting with site visits, data collection, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance under the guidance of senior staff. Core responsibilities include preparing engineering plans and reports, developing permit applications, and ensuring projects meet environmental and quality standards while contributing to innovative solutions that minimize environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability, quality, and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
• Physically able to perform fieldwork and travel as required; valid driver's license.
• Proficient in MicroStation or AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, or other engineering software is beneficial.
• Team player with strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
