Job summary

CPL is seeking an Engineering Designer I in New York to support licensed engineers and multidisciplinary teams across planning, design, and delivery of regional projects. This entry-level role develops technical knowledge while performing engineering and design tasks under supervision.

You will assist with site visits, create and modify 2D/3D drawings, research codes, and support calculations and project docs. AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, Revit/Open Roads and MS Office are essential.

Qualifications

• AS or BS in Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent education/experience
• 0–2 years civil engineering experience (internships included)
• Basic to moderately difficult technical computations
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, Revit and/or Open Roads; proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions

Responsibilities

• Assist with site visits and field inspections
• Prepare and modify 2D and 3D drawings and models
• Research codes, standards, and permitting requirements
• Support preparation of engineering calculations, plans, specs, and docs
• Work under close supervision on small projects or portions of larger projects
• Collaborate with engineers and team members to support project execution
• Observe and report on construction activities
• Compile maps, reports, and forms
