Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Newburgh, NY is seeking an Engineering Designer to join its Civil/Site discipline. You will assist in data collection, analysis, and early preparatory work on technical reports and contract documents.

Responsibilities include drafting, QA/QC, field surveys, code research, and collaboration with senior engineers using AutoCAD Civil 3D daily to develop designs for varied civil/site projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
• 0-2+ years of related experience.
• Engineer in Training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Interest in Civil/Site Engineering projects; prior experience preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
• Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design.
• Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
• Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
• Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information regarding same.
• Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting same.
• Research and apply code provisions to design.
• Work with senior engineers to create project designs.
• Utilize AutoCadCivil 3D on a daily basis.
• Research design options and document findings for project manager.
• Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgement to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs. Assist Project Engineers and leaders as needed in the creation of designs.
