City of Jacksonville is seeking two City Planner I to perform entry-level urban planning, data collection, analysis, and regulatory tasks. The role involves coordinating with staff, preparing planning documents, and supporting grant applications while working in office with field site visits as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 30+ semester hours in urban planning or closely related field.
• Knowledge of zoning codes, planning regulations and urban planning principles.
• Ability to collect, analyze planning data and prepare written reports.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts field studies, collects data, analyzes and develops reports.
• Prepares recommendations on comprehensive plan amendments, zoning and related applications.
• Assists in updating comprehensive plan elements; collects data and drafts sections.
• Reviews street name/address change requests and supports staff with technical guidance.
• Performs land use, site plan and zoning reviews; prepares grant plans and applications.
• Develops maps, charts, and statistical analyses for reports and meetings.
• Coordinates Land Use and Planning agenda packets and related materials.
• Maintains and updates project files and GIS mappings.
