Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, is seeking a skilled technician to perform plant equipment operation in a central energy plant environment. You will repair, maintain, inspect and operate utilities production equipment and distribution systems.

Responsibilities include startup/shutdown of major plant equipment, reading technical manuals, logging measurements, and attending safety training. Strong emphasis on safety and adherence to internal controls in a team setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid Class C Driver’s license.
• Healthcare or academic institution experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Startup, shutdown, and operate major plant equipment including power generation and boilers.
• Read blueprints and technical manuals for equipment and buildings as required.
• Monitor equipment and maintain records of operational status.
• Complete work orders using asset management tracking systems.
• Identify and report safety hazards.
• Attend safety training and plant operation courses.
• Assist in corrective maintenance tasks for mechanical or electrical systems.
• Log measurements of operating boilers, turbines, and large chilled water production equipment.
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
• Assist in repairing components on energy management systems.
