Job summary

NIS EXPRESS is seeking new Class A CDL drivers to start with a seasoned trainer, earning weekly while you learn. After evaluation, move to full mileage pay as you drive solo, with a guaranteed weekly minimum during the first 3 months.

Expect 1,900–2,300 miles weekly, starting at 55¢/mile with a yearly rise to 65¢/mile, plus $15 stop pay and a monthly bonus. Medical/dental/vision after 30 days, and a 401k with match. Orientation travel covered.

Qualifications

• 21+ years old with a valid Class A CDL.
• New drivers require 120+ hours from an accredited CDL school.
• Experienced drivers need 6 months OTR in the past year, or 12 months in the past 5 years.
• No DUI or DWI in the last 5–10 years, based on CDL issue date.
• Must pass a DOT physical and hair plus urine drug screening.
• Must live within 200 miles of Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities

• Operate dry van freight with drop-and-hook plus some live load/unload.
• Earn weekly pay while training, then move to solo mileage pay.
• Expect roughly 1,900–2,300 miles per week on steady miles.

Job description

You finished CDL school on the Eastern Shore, and now every posting seems to want two years of experience you do not have yet. This one does not. We put new Class A drivers in the seat next to a seasoned trainer, pay them every week while they learn, and keep their miles on the east side of the country.

How Your First Months Play Out

For the first weeks you run real loads with a trainer beside you, earning $850 a week. Once you pass your evaluation you move into your own truck on full mileage pay, and for the first 3 months of solo driving your check never drops below $1,000 a week.

A Normal Stretch on the Road

• Two Weeks Out, Then Home: A predictable rhythm you can plan birthdays and ball games around
• Staying East: Freight rarely crosses the Mississippi
• Mixed Freight: Dry van with drop and hook plus some live load and unload stops
• Steady Miles: Roughly 1,900 to 2,300 miles each week

What It Adds Up To

• Weekly Earnings: $1,200 to $1,700 on average once you are solo
• Rate That Grows: Starting at 55 cents a mile and climbing a cent for each extra year of experience, to a 65 cent cap
• Extras: $15 stop pay and a monthly performance bonus
