Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Associate Consultant Casualty Claims to join our Claims team in a hybrid role with two days in the office. This entry-level position handles low complexity no-fault and medical payment claims under supervision, developing foundational claims handling skills and customer service.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred) and 1–3 years in medical or criminal justice fields.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred or combination of education and experience.
• 1–3 years of work experience, ideally in the medical or criminal justice field. Legal document familiarity is a plus.
• Navigates complex discussions with internal and external groups to reach a mutually beneficial outcome.
• Learning basic management concepts for indemnity, medical, and litigation/resolution practices.

Responsibilities

• Verify coverage using established procedures and guidelines.
• Manage routine claims to resolution with oversight.
• Collect and review necessary documentation and information from claimants and other sources.
• Conduct straightforward investigations for simple claims; escalate complex cases as needed.
• May assist in estimating damages and identifying red flag indicators such as potential fraud.
• Communicate with claimants to gather information and provide status updates.
