Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking an entry-level RTS Maintenance worker for the Regional Transit System. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on buses and transit equipment, under direct supervision, focusing on vehicle repair and preventive care.

Responsibilities include daily maintenance, tire service, lighting and hose replacements, and assisting mechanics. Must attend work regularly and comply with safety and departmental procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CDL Class B license with passenger transport endorsement within one month of employment.
• Knowledge of automotive and mechanical parts; familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily bus maintenance and refueling, checks fluid levels and tops up engine oil, coolant and other fluids.
• Repairs and maintains tires; performs field tire service calls.
• Repairs and replaces lights, signals, mirrors, belts, hoses.
• Assists mechanics with general labor and more complex repairs.
• Washes and cleans buses and other automotive equipment.
• Performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance per manufacturers’ recommendations and department policy.
