Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. seeks a highly motivated entry-level Civil Engineer to join the Aviation group in Denver, CO. This role blends hands-on learning with real-world design and site observation.

You'll support design in the office, visit construction sites about 50% of the time, and collaborate with project teams while building experience from start to finish. Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and internship experience; EIT preferred; proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
• EIT certification is highly preferred.
• Previously completed civil/transportation engineering internships.

Responsibilities

• Design aviation civil engineering projects (taxiways, aprons, runways).
• Assist with analysis, reports, specs, plans, schedules, studies and designs.
• Perform QA/QC tasks including leading design reviews.
• Assist with construction cost estimates for various projects.
• Visit construction sites to monitor progress (50% travel) and support onsite duties.
• May serve as onsite project representative and assist with client communication.
• Attend client meetings and perform other contract-related tasks.

As a result, a full-time position is available for a highly motivated entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Aviation group at our Denver, CO office.

This exciting position offers a great mix of hands‑on learning and real‑world experience, giving you the opportunity to contribute to impactful airport project design while also getting out in the field to see your work come to life. You’ll support engineering design in the office, while also spending time onsite observing construction progress, building relationships with project teams, and gaining valuable exposure to how projects are delivered from start to finish.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing aviation civil engineering projects, which include taxiways, aprons, runways, and others.
• Assisting with analysis and preparation of reports, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, permits, and designs for projects.

• Performing QA/QC tasks including leading design reviews.
• Assisting with development of construction cost estimates for various projects.
• Visiting construction project sites to monitor progress and perform other duties per the contract documents – days or nights.
• May serve as onsite project representative.
• May assist with client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
• May attend client meetings.
• Other tasks as assigned.

The successful candidate will have the following background:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university completed by date of hire.

The ideal candidate will have experience in any/all the following:

• Previous related civil / transportation engineering internship(s)
• EIT certification is highly preferred
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
• Comfortable with public speaking and working in a client facing role
• Strong communication skills
• Heavy civil construction experience
• Construction field tasks including site grading, utilities, drainage, erosion control, paving, materials testing, and/or surveying
• Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project software programs

A valid driver’s license, the ability to pass background checks to gain access to airport sites, and frequent travel to construction project sites approximately 50% (may also include overnight stays) will be required.

Salary Range: $68,000 - $90,000 – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
