Job summary

Celebrity Cruises seeks an Entertainment Operator – Media and Content to manage daily video and content operations across shipboard venues. You will set up, operate, and tear down equipment for production shows, headline entertainers, and other events, ensuring screen quality and visual design meet standards.

You will liaise with stage and production managers, attend rehearsals, assist with stage resets, monitor inventory of video gear, and help with purchase orders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in theater, 3d design, or entertainment technology from an accredited university or equivalent experience is required.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in entertainment or screen content and video operation, design, set up, and maintenance is required.
• Working/operational knowledge with Pandoras Box and Resolume; familiarity with Pixera, TouchDesigner, Chataigne, or Notch.
• Experience with show networks (Art-Net, sACN, NDI) or configuring IP-based video/control systems is a must.
• Extensive knowledge of video equipment, media servers, LED screens, and related electrical knowledge.
• Previous cruise ship or touring experience is an asset.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a diverse team; ability to adapt to fast-paced changes.

Responsibilities

• Operate all media and video elements for scheduled events in the vessel’s main theater and alternative entertainment venues as necessary.
• Maintain brand and industry standards for video quality in the main theater and satellite venues; monitor ship network health.
• Follow daily schedules for events, rehearsals, and performances and liaise with Stage & Production Manager and Technical Director.
• Maintain inventory records for consumables and health of media servers; assist in stage resets and theater setup as required.
• Report broken or deficient equipment promptly; ensure video systems remain compliant with Head Office approvals.
• Open theater doors 30 minutes prior to showtime and ensure high production value across venues.

Job description

The Entertainment Operator – Media and Content is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of all video/content elements in the vessel’s entertainment venues. This includes set up, operation, and tear down of all additional video equipment used for Production Shows, Headline Entertainers, Enrichment speakers, presenters, and other users of the theater and shipboard entertainment venues. The Entertainment Operator – Media and Content is responsible for the operation of all video output control software/hardware for all performances in entertainment spaces and is required to monitor and maintain organizational standards on screen quality, content, and visual designs. The Entertainment Operator – Media and Content will liaise with Headline Entertainers about their video requirements in all entertainment venues where applicable, coordinate content as necessary, attend all rehearsals, and assist at all stage resets. Regular cleaning and maintenance of all video output devices in the vessels system will be lead and conducted by the Entertainment Operator – Media and Content. In addition to the duties listed above, the Entertainment Operator – Media and Content is also responsible for assisting the Entertainment Staff on any video or screen content related tasks in the vessels alternative entertainment venues as requested by the Stage & Production Manager or Technical Director. The Entertainment Operator – Media and Content is the first responsible person for all video content displayed from entertainment systems in all entertainment venues and areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain brand and industry standards for video quality in the main theater as well as all satellite lounges and venues around the ship. (overall video quality and correct operation of video equipment) As well as the general health of the ships network
• Follow the daily written schedule for events, rehearsals, and performances.
• Maintain professional and helpful interactions with guests attending the shows or around the ship if asked for assistance or given feedback.
• Liaise with the Stage & Production Manager, Technical Director for maintaining and improving production value in the theater, and with the Venue Production Managers for maintaining and improving production value outside of the theater.
• Operate all media and video elements for scheduled events in the vessel’s main theater and alternative entertainment venues as necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory for all consumables such as replacement screen panels, logs of their usage, as well as the health of the media servers supplying content to them
• Work with the Technical Director to make purchase orders.
• Ensures the video system and their configurations are not changed without written approval from the Head Office.
• Responsible for reporting any broken or deficient equipment to the Technical Director in a timely manner.
• Adhere to Celebrity’s SQM and safety standards, as well as meet and maintain the artistic integrity of the produced theatrical shows.
• Participate in stage resets with the Entertainment Operator team.
• Works with the Stage & Production Manager or Technical Director to ensure the theater set-up is clean and organized and showcases an appealing stage picture when the audience enters.
• Works with the Venue Production Managers to ensure satellite lounge set-ups are clean, organized, and showcases an appealing picture of the venue
• Open theater doors 30 minutes prior to showtime or as instructed by the Stage & Production Manager or Technical Director.
• Maintains a high level of production value for all of the ship’s entertainment venues
• Upholds the integrity of shows and events in the ship’s entertainment venues produced by Celebrity Cruises or those produced in conjunction with outside Production Companies.
• Responsible for delivering results, with the Stage & Production Manager and/or Venue Production Manager, for Overall Entertainment ratings based on Production Shows and Headline Entertainers around the entertainment venues of the ship.

• Experience working with expansive video systems, maintenance, cleaning, assembly, and technical troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of computers (Windows and Mac) and connecting to external devices such as projectors/TV Screens/and LED Screen panels, and relevant troubleshooting.
• Previous experience on cruise ships or touring an asset.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse team environment to meet overall established timeframes.
• Ability to communicate tactfully with coworkers and other shipboard employees to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions.
• Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt well to sudden changes.
