Job summary

Silversea is seeking an experienced Entertainment Technician to support production management aboard our vessels. You will operate lighting, video, and sound for events, train staff, and ensure top-quality shows while maintaining equipment and safety standards.

Responsibilities include supervising setups/strikes, coordinating with guest entertainers, and performing preventative maintenance to keep systems reliable during voyages at sea.

Qualifications

  • Valid STCW95 certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting & video equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of show control and time code distribution.
  • Good knowledge of Mac & PC hardware & software maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and basic repair skills.
  • Physically and medically fit.
  • Moral integrity is required.

Job description

  1. 1. Supports the Production Manager ensuring full entertainment technical support is given to all events.
  2. 2. Deputizes for the Production Manager as required
  3. 3. Monitors the quality of technical support being offered around the vessel including sound and lighting levels.
  4. 4. Reports daily to Production Manager
  5. 5. Attends band calls and rehearsals to ensure top quality professional shows and events.
  6. 6. Liaises with visiting Guest entertainers / Enrichment staff to ensure their needs are understood and met,
  7. 7. Regularly tests all ships entertainment equipment, documents and takes action on results.
  8. 8. Reports defects of technical equipment to the Production Manager
  9. 9. Provides training in the operation of the Ships entertainment systems and its maintenance to the Entertainment technician (Nova Class Only).
  10. 10. Carries out maintenance and repair of equipment.
  11. 11. Maintains, cleans and organizes sound booth, stage areas and storage lockers on a daily basis.
  12. 12. Practices preventative maintenance.
  13. 13. Assists with, and in the absence of the Production Manager supervises set ups and strikes of all entertainment events, including scenery for production shows, strikes of all technical equipment around the ship, accommodating the needs of musicians and performers who utilize areas.
  14. 14. Assists in all setup and strikes of technical equipment for all entertainment events, such as bingo games, quizzes, lectures etc.
  15. 15. Supports any lectures and special Enrichment events (i.e. culinary demonstrations, guest lectures, bridge lectures, wine tastings, shore concierge port talks, special group events).
  16. 16. Prepares suitable hand over notes.
  17. 17. Operates all lighting and video equipment for all events around the ship as required
  18. 18. Attends Band calls and rehearsals
  19. 19. Liaises with visiting Guest entertainers / Enrichment staff to provide creative lighting design and operation
  20. 20. Operates Sound, Lighting and Video for all enrichment events & parties
  21. 21. Regularly tests all ships entertainment lighting and video systems, documents and takes action on results
  22. 22. Provides training in the operation of the Ships entertainment lighting systems and its maintenance to Entertainment technician
  23. 23. Carries out maintenance and repair of lighting and video equipment
  24. 24. Maintains, cleans and organizes lighting booth, stage areas and storage lockers on a daily basis
  25. 25. Practices preventative maintenance
  26. 26. Assists in set ups and strikes of all entertainment events, including scenery for production shows, strikes of all technical equipment around the ship, accommodating the needs of musicians and performers who utilize areas
  27. 27. Be responsible for and sign over the equipment in the lighting inventory to relieving Lighting Engineers
  28. 28. Proactively responds to issues or potential problems quickly and efficiently involving relevant people as required. Communicates any challenges, complaints or service difficulties to immediate supervisor.
  29. 29. Assist the Broadcast Manager with filming of events, activities and other custom content creation
  30. 30. Socializes with guests when in public rooms.
  31. 31. Assists with the induction of new crew.
  32. 32. Adjusts own work schedule and location independently when the overall daily operation changes.
  33. 33. Incorporates Company service standards, personalized service and sincere hospitality by creating positive experiences for guests, efficiently engaging with guests and anticipating guest needs.
  34. 34. Performs all other duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications
  1. 1. Valid STCW95 certification.
  2. 2. Extensive proven knowledge of professional Lighting & Video equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  3. 3. Good knowledge of computer and manual lighting console operation.
  4. 5. Good knowledge and understanding of show control and time code distribution.
  5. 6. Basic knowledge in Mac & PC hardware & software maintenance and repair
  6. 7. Good troubleshooting skills, basic repair skills, and able to crimp and solder connectors.
  7. 9. Physically and medically fit.
  8. 10. Moral integrity is required

Language requirements:

Excellent fluent English (verbal and written) is mandatory. English is the working and safety language on board Silversea vessels. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Any other language is a plus.

Computer knowledge:
  1. Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications is required
  2. Previous experience with Fidelio is desirable
  3. Efficient at all computer based tasks
