Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking an Enterprise Systems Engineer who thrives on curiosity and analysis to help solve complex IT challenges across a large enterprise.

The role spans 28 IT disciplines, building scalable, secure solutions for tens of thousands of devices and users, and collaborating with senior engineers and architects.

You’ll design, automate, test hypotheses, and continuously improve environments with PowerShell, scripting, APIs, and automation platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting or engineering enterprise IT environments.
• Strong Windows and Linux systems knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems.
• Experience with scripting or automation; PowerShell strongly preferred.
• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, networking, security, and operational management.
• Ability to independently research, test, analyze, and develop solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineers, architects, technical leadership, and operations teams.
• Ability to rapidly learn unfamiliar technologies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Solve the hard problems. Investigate enterprise IT issues, identify root causes, research solutions, test hypotheses, and recommend a path forward.
• Think at enterprise scale. Design and improve capabilities deployed across 50,000–100,000 devices.
• Engineer across disciplines. Understand how systems interact across 28 IT services to improve operations.
• Build and automate. Use PowerShell, scripting, APIs, automation platforms to create scalable solutions.
• Research what’s next. Prototype and evaluate technologies to improve the enterprise.
• Support architecture and engineering. Work with senior engineers to turn concepts into operational solutions.
• Continuously improve the environment. Identify weaknesses and automation opportunities and own improvements.
