Job summary

Zipline in South San Francisco is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for the Enterprise Systems team. You will take full ownership of the operational nervous system powering manufacturing, supply chain, inventory traceability, and field deployment, building high‑availability services where correctness is vital for safety and aircraft throughput.

This internship offers hands-on work with Python, Go, PostgreSQL, React, Kafka, gRPC, AWS, Grafana, and Honeycomb.

Qualifications

• Second year undergrad in CS/SE/CE or higher.
• Product-minded engineering with focus on real-world impact.
• Strong fundamentals and systems thinking.
• Willingness to work on-site on the manufacturing floor and with hardware.
• Experience with modern tech stack and on-call readiness is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own core domains across MES, supply chain, and inventory traceability.
• Stabilize services toward high uptime and reduce manual interventions.
• Define APIs, data models, and service boundaries with observability.
• Bridge software with hardware tooling for deterministic operations.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive postmortems for improvements.
• Prototype workflows with manufacturing and field teams on the shop floor.
• Contribute to CI/CD and automated testing practices.
