Job summary

Zipline in South San Francisco is offering an Applications Engineer Intern position focused on deploying infrastructure for ground systems. You will solve application-specific challenges, validate off-the-shelf systems, and integrate products for field deployments.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams across engineering and operations, gain hands-on experience with remote monitoring, weather sensing, lifting apparatus, and site readiness, and contribute to scalable, high-availability

Qualifications

• You must have completed the second year of your undergraduate studies in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software systems, data collection and analysis, and collaborating with stakeholders to address engineering challenges.
• Experience reading data sheets, layouts, or schematics.
• CAD skills (Siemens NX, SolidWorks) and any machine shop/prototyping experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development, testing, and deployment of system improvements for Platform 2 ground systems and new deployments.
• Develop technical solutions for specialized application needs, including lifting apparatus and weather stations.
• Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors for high-availability, low-cost components.
• Refine site requirements and transform them into deployable systems meeting first-principles needs.
• Define handover materials and processes to sustain new solutions.
