Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking an Enterprise Solutions Engineer to join the Information Services/Application Department in our Chicago office. The Enterprise Solutions Engineer is responsible for the implementation, customization, and ongoing support of off-the-shelf software solutions, ensuring they align with business needs. In addition to managing software implementations, the Enterprise Solutions Engineer also plays a key role in process improvement initiatives, ensuring the solutions not only function effectively but also drive operational efficiency. The position requires an in-office presence in the Chicago office but includes flexibility for some remote work.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with firm leadership, practice groups, and administrative departments to gather, document, and clarify project requirements. Works with application development team members to translate these requirements into work plans, including process mapping, ensuring business needs are met and project milestones are achieved.
- Guides architecture and design decisions, including evaluating and selecting technologies, ensuring seamless integration with existing platforms, and alignment with the firm’s long-term IT strategy.
- Oversees implementations, facilitates needs assessments, and planning sessions to understand strategies and gather technical and functional requirements. Creates preliminary design documents such as screen mockups, entity relationship diagrams, and process flow diagrams.
- Develops solutions using existing or new tools and platforms, including applications, databases, and workflows. Collaborates with internal clients to test and implement solutions, providing presentations, communications, and demonstrations as needed.
- Acts as a solutions evangelist, raising awareness of capabilities, empowering staff to utilize tools, and researching new technologies for future solutions.
- Follows the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) when implementing custom solutions, including SharePoint and Power Platform-based solutions.
- Documents code, creates process and workflow diagrams, and prepares support documentation for cross-training resources, using tools like Confluence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least five (5) years of experience in business analysis, computer science, or project management. Four (4) years of experience in the legal industry is preferred.
- Proven experience managing multiple complex projects.
- Familiarity with requirements definitions and application development standards.
- Strong technical skills related to system development platforms, tools, and environments.
- Understanding of software development processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to learn new software, including configuration, training, documentation, and becoming a subject matter expert.
- Proficient in writing and troubleshooting SQL queries, including stored procedures and user-defined functions in an MSSQL Server environment; familiar with normalized data structures.
- Preferred: Experience with SharePoint Online and Power Platform (PowerApps, Power BI, Flow).
- Preferred: PowerShell, RESTful API, JSON, HTML.

Additional Information:
In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $110,000 and $150,000.
