Job summary

Guardian Life Insurance is seeking a Principal Solution Architect to define and govern enterprise-wide architecture across platforms, domains, and delivery teams. You will partner with Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Product, Cybersecurity, and Platform teams to ensure scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.

Location requirements include three days per week at Guardian offices in New York, NY or Holmdel, NJ with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Deep experience designing, governing, and scaling enterprise solution architectures across teams, platforms, and digital domains.
• Proven ability to define, govern, and drive adoption of architecture standards, reusable patterns, reference architectures, guardrails, and federated practices.
• Strong understanding of modern technology ecosystems including APIs, integration patterns, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, data flows, and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to balance enterprise strategy with hands-on engineering credibility, business priorities, and governance.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise and business solution architecture strategy, standards, guardrails, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and cross-team design consistency across platforms and domains.
• Lead complex design decisions across value streams and business units, translating strategy into actionable architecture direction and delivery choices.
• Drive early architecture engagement to identify cross-platform dependencies, risks, scalability constraints, and integration patterns.
• Partner with security, risk, compliance, product, and engineering teams to embed standards, governance, security, resilience, and performance.
• Influence leaders to align roadmaps, MVP scope, and architectural decisions across BU and functional domains.
• Mentor architects and engineers, represent architecture in enterprise forums and architecture review boards.
