Job summary

Harris Digital Learning in Philadelphia seeks an experienced software architect to lead modernization of a large enterprise platform. You will retire legacy mappings, stand up REST API interfaces, and establish CI/CD and testing practices.

You will mentor engineers, shape the team, and collaborate with modernization partners. Strong Java, Spring Boot, Oracle/PostgreSQL, and Azure cloud experience are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building enterprise software, including leadership of engineering teams or owning architecture on significant programs.
• Modernized large legacy systems and decomposed monoliths with data-layer migrations.
• Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL, and modern front-end stacks (Angular/React/TypeScript).
• Cloud-native delivery on Azure or equivalent, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
• Familiar with AI-assisted development tools and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead data-layer modernization: retire XDoclet Hibernate mappings in favor of JPA; oversee Oracle to PostgreSQL migration.
• Stand up REST API façade and identity/organization/enrollment foundations.
• Establish engineering practice: CI/CD, code review, and characterization tests in a low-test environment.
• Recommend team shape and help hire it.
• Mentor engineers and contractors; promote AI-assisted development.
