Job summary

Zendesk, Inc. is seeking a Strategic Account Director, Retail New Business to create and close durable net-new business with large retail and consumer brands.

You will build trusted relationships with executive buyers, connect their priorities to Zendesk’s service and AI solutions, and guide complex opportunities from first conversation through close. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, own pursuit strategy, and ensure accurate forecasting and smooth handoffs to post-sale teams.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in complex retail software sales.
• Proven track record owning new-business opportunities and delivering commercial outcomes.
• Experience with prospecting, executive engagement, and complex deal ownership.
• Ability to discuss AI, automation, and platform value credibly with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage qualified pipeline through targeted prospecting and territory planning.
• Lead complex sales from discovery to close with cross-functional support.
• Connect customer goals to Zendesk AI solutions with measurable outcomes.
• Coordinate with Solution Engineers, Product Specialists, Marketing, and partners.
• Maintain CRM records, surface risks early, and forecast accurately.
• Document goals and success criteria to enable smooth handoffs.
