Job summary

Encompass Health seeks a Director of Enterprise Physical Security to lead strategy and governance for security across corporate offices, hospitals, and construction sites. This role directly operates security programs and partners with Information Security to maintain a unified posture.

This senior position requires a strong background in risk, executive protection, and security technologies, with relocation to our Home Office in Birmingham, AL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in security management, criminal justice, business administration, or related field.
• 10+ years in physical security and safety with 5+ years in leadership across global or multi-site programs.
• Strong risk analysis, crisis management, executive protection, travel security, and business continuity.
• Experience with security technologies and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001/27002, NIST 800-53).
• Military/law enforcement/intelligence background with corporate security leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a risk-based physical security strategy with governance, standards, and KPIs.
• Maintain relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement within the EHC footprint.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across operations.
• Develop and operate security programs for corporate office, hospitals, and construction sites.
• Lead executive protection, travel security, workplace violence prevention, and crisis monitoring.
• Embed security into facility design, construction, and commissioning.
• Establish governance aligned with SOC 2 II, ISO 27001/27002, NIST 800-53, PCI-DSS.
• Operate PSOC 24/7 monitoring and incident escalation protocols.
• Collaborate across departments to develop security policies and data protection procedures.
• Conduct internal investigations with Legal and HR when required.
