Position Summary

The Energy Engineer II provides expert system and program engineering support to internal teams and utility clients. Responsibilities include technical support, project management, training, program support, and system rollouts. The role involves working with engineering and program staff to resolve technical issues and support program startups and migrations. External customer interactions are limited.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with building owners, developers, architects, and contractors to advise on energy efficiency and participate in programs.
  • Identify on-site energy efficiency opportunities during design and construction phases and document findings.
  • Participate in QA/QC and internal audits.
  • Analyze utility bills to identify usage trends.
  • Promote energy efficiency measures to property managers and owners.
  • Prepare reports and presentations.
  • Discuss technical aspects of energy-consuming equipment to support business cases for recommendations.
  • Manage data related to energy savings and project progress.
  • Understand program strategies and stay current on energy-saving technologies.
  • Collaborate with team members for technical support and serve as a resource for Energy Advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality policies.
Additional Major Responsibilities
  • Support program delivery across the country, including savings calculations and evaluations.
  • Develop proficiency in company technology platforms.
  • Ensure technical accuracy in savings calculations and project reviews.
  • Maintain documentation of energy savings methodologies.
  • Support program launches, modifications, and expansions.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in specific technologies.
  • Review evaluation reports and implement changes.
  • Mentor and train staff as needed.
  • Research and present new technologies.
  • Perform field inspections and assessments.
  • Assist in forecasting efforts.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Architectural, or Industrial).
  • 4+ years of experience in the energy efficiency industry.
  • Preferred: experience with energy efficiency programs.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, with good prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with energy efficiency databases (e.g., Salesforce, eTrack).
  • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of building systems and energy standards (e.g., ENERGY STAR, ASHRAE).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in Commercial, Industrial, Multifamily, or Residential sectors; ASHRAE Level 1 & 2 audits preferred.

Licenses & Certifications
  • C.E.M. certification or willingness to obtain (preferred).
  • P.E., F.E., or willingness to obtain (preferred).
Travel Requirements
