Job summary

Steam Logistics, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is seeking an Enterprise Drayage Operations Specialist to manage drayage shipments in our TMS and coordinate with the sales team for end-to-end moves.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of logistics experience preferred.
  • Proactive, independent, and reliable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and self-motivation skills with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Builds shipments in our TMS, schedules container pick-up and delivery appointments, and manages the financial data of the shipments.
  • Partner with the Drayage Sales team to facilitate end-to-end drayage moves.
  • Builds key relationships with truckers and customers to ensure Steam Logistics is seen as a best-in-class service provider; proactive communicator via phone and email follow up.
  • Fully knowledgeable of all operational aspects of the TMS and how the workflow is set up to be as efficient as possible; proposes enhancements to automate processes.
  • Effectively communicates and offers solutions when capacity problems arise and prioritizes LFDs and Port Cuts.
  • Keeps thorough container tracking to avoid detention, per diem, storage costs; develops solutions to eliminate these costs.

The Opportunity

The Enterprise Drayage Operations Specialist plays a critical role in supporting our drayage pick-up and delivery services for our highest volume client’s. As an Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for building and maintaining shipments within our Transportation Management System (TMS) and providing a world-class end-to-end logistics experience. This role requires a person with a great sense of organization and can collaborate with colleagues to develop unique and creative solutions for whatever means our clients' needs for smooth transportation services.

What You Will Do

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
