Job summary

Steam Logistics is seeking a Senior Accountant – General Ledger in Chattanooga, TN to own month-end close, standardize journal entries, and maintain GL integrity. You will manage bank reconciliations, vendor payments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights for leadership.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in accounting, strong Excel skills, and a track record of process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Experience performing account and bank reconciliations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and enter journal entries during month-end close
• Ensure transactions are coded accurately in the general ledger
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and support close
• Manage daily bank reconciliations and related processes
• Release vendor payments on a daily basis
• Partner with internal teams to gather and interpret financial data
• Support annual audit requests and work with external auditors
• Help maintain accounting policies and procedures
• Identify ways to streamline and improve accounting processes
• Support internal controls across GL and bank reconciliation functions
• Assist with training new team members and identifying team development opportunities
