Job summary

SiloSmashers is seeking a Data Architect to lead design and governance of data systems enabling analytics and secure data sharing. You will reconcile diverse data sources into unified enterprise models and build production pipelines in Databricks, Power BI, Tableau, and related platforms.

Responsibilities include modeling enterprise data, migrating to cloud, automating data loading and refresh, and ensuring compliance with federal security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (Master's preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering across multiple source systems.
• Proficiency with SQL and cloud data platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov).
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark/SQL, Delta Lake, and orchestrations for automated refreshes.
• Experience modeling data from Microsoft Dataverse or similar data stores.
• Experience preparing data models for Power BI and Tableau consumption.
• Ability to work with messy/unstructured data and bring it into governed structures.
• Experience automating data ingestion, cleansing, and refresh processes end-to-end.
• Strong knowledge of data governance and federal security standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise data models, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Lead cloud data migration and integration with Databricks ETL/ELT tooling.
• Automate data loading, cleansing, and validation routines.
• Design and schedule automated refresh workflows to keep data up-to-date.
• Build and optimize Databricks pipelines with Delta Lake and PySpark/SQL.
• Apply performance tuning and cost-optimization for pipelines at scale.
• Ensure compliance with NIST and federal data security requirements.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and engineers to resolve data discrepancies.
• Provide guidance on data quality, storage, and retrieval standards.
• Design semantic layers and data marts for Power BI/Tableau consumption.
• Assess lineage and quality of existing datasets; identify gaps.
• Document architecture decisions and mentor staff on data modeling.
