Job summary

NextDecade in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Assistant General Counsel, Compliance Officer to lead the enterprise-wide compliance and ethics framework. You will advise senior leadership, oversee risk management, and promote a culture of integrity across all operations.

The role requires JD, active U.S. licensure, and strong experience designing enterprise programs, including anti-corruption and internal controls. Multinational exposure and CC EP recommended.

Qualifications

  • JD and active license to practice law in the United States.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and overseeing enterprise compliance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of US federal and state regulatory frameworks; international experience preferred.
  • Proven advisory capability to senior and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation, and enhancement of the company''s compliance and ethics program.
  • Advise senior leadership on compliance risks, regulatory developments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee risk assessments, monitoring activities, and corrective action plans.
  • Stay updated on regulatory developments and update programs accordingly.
  • Monitor compliance metrics and detect potential breaches.
  • Lead or supervise internal investigations related to compliance and ethics.
  • Manage responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations.
  • Oversee enterprise compliance training for employees and contractors.
  • Establish reporting metrics and present updates to General Counsel and executives.
  • Support governance initiatives and promote ethical decision-making.
